Here's the recipe for my Oatmeal Bread----aka Bubble-Gum Bread!
Mix in mixer bowl with fork or whisk:
3 cups warm water
5 teaspoons yeast
1/2 cup loose brown sugar
let sit for 10 minutes
Add and mix:
2 1/2 cups cooked oatmeal
(I save the leftovers from our breakfasts)
4 cups white flour
3 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup Bob's Red Mill 8-Grain cereal (optional)
let sit (sponge) for 20 minutes.
With dough hook attached, turn to low speed
and slowly add 5 cups of whole wheat flour.
Knead in mixer for 10 minutes.
Put dough into two greased bowls, flip so the greased side is up.
Cover with towel and let rise for 45 minutes or until doubled.
Punch down, shaped as desired.
I always make two loaves and then some rolls
or a round loaf
or cinnamon rolls
with the remainder.
Bake @ 350* for 30 minutes.
Let cool in pan completely before slicing.
Freeze one loaf for later today when the first one is gone!

More Demolition

This is a "small" demo project.....
the wall behind Nathan between the kitchen
and dining room is coming out!
With everyone getting in on the action!

Making dust.....and more dust!

Pulling out the bottom sill board.....

carrying it outta here....

The final cut......
doesn't it look better?
A better (cleaner) shot to come later!

Precious Sleep

I have been battling fatigue,
as can be expected for one
in my condition (expecting!)
Ian has never really been consistent
with sleeping patterns,
sometimes still waking up every 4 hours
through the night to nurse.
Twice in the last week, however,
he has slept 8+ hours.
What a difference that makes to momma!!

Life around Here

With a surprisingly slow onset,
the stomach flu has now fully taken ahold
of my household.
Bananas.

Coloring....

and pancakes for lunch, and maybe even dinner!

Sheet-rockin' Party

Oh, the excitement as the first piece goes up!
And learning to work together!

My Mr. Wonderful!

Little Music Man

My little Ian loves music!
He claps whenever anyone sings
(my little game is to sing him "Jesus Loves Me" when
he's crabby to get him to smile and clap!)
and now he's making music for himself
and singing along, too!

Back to Routine

We are still on the mend from last week's excursion---
and the routine which has suffered so many setbacks lately
is back in full swing.
All 15 minutes of it.

Home

****my finally successful bread recipe----nicknamed "bubblegum bread"
because it actually stays together while being sliced, instead of crumbling to bits.
AND it doesn't have an overpowering "wheaty gluten" taste---
Mr. Wonderful approves!**** Who knew that a week away,
while in a comfortable, clean house,
that my family would collectively breathe a deep contented sigh
when we walk back through our own door,
and though messes abounded,
felt a peace that we were HOME.

Where I've been....

out in the desolate, wintry foothills....
observing beauty I've never noticed before.....

and marvelling again
at the beauty and love that surrounds me everyday.....

the handsome men.....

the tender care.....

the huggable littlest....

the snow-munching, duct taped middlest.....

and the biggest brother giving..........

and bravely riding.....

the sun-kissed cheeks..........

where I've been!

Snowy Days

Little Man

How Ian has changed these last few months!
He regularly carries on "conversations" with Daddy---
calling for him through the plastic "wall".
He is making good use of the 4 (!!!) new teeth
he aquired over the week of Christmas
by eating nearly constantly.
His latest trick, just in time for the playoffs,
is *TOUCHDOWN*!

Starting the New Year with a....Crash?

This is what my living room looked like this Christmas:It hasn't changed at all since the remodel began, except for maybe getting more crowded since we decided to move our dining table in there so we wouldn't freeze while we eat.
The interior wall has been waiting to come down....
waiting and waiting and waiting.
I, on the other hand, have been very patient.
This is my dining/living room last night.
The plastic is up to help keep the dust out and the heat in.

Here's the wall, getting a ride out,
thanks to Dad and Mr. Wonderful.

Bye, wall, it's been nice knowing you.
But it's so much bigger in here with you gone!!

(when the plastic comes down, you'll be sure to know!)

Praying for a Miracle

Today my hearts beats out a prayer for two I love----
God, please give them a miracle!
How hard it is to pray for God's will to be done----
when His answer might be "No".
But oh, how gently may He whisper it,
filling their hearts with His peace.
...may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:4
