Baby's New Room

Last week, Mr. MK and his dad started the addition on our house---a new room for baby!! I am excited---they've both had quite a bit of time off, so it might be *almost* done by BABYDAY. (end of March sometime!) N and B helped tear into the existing wall---they really love smashing things!

So I've been finishing up some projects to decorate his new little room. The crib and dresser are getting a facelift---a bright apple green paint job with help from Grandma!! It's going to be so cheerful and springy.

Have I mentioned that I am huge and ready to have this baby? My ankles and feet are swollen beyond all recognition and.....oh, well, I won't bore you with all the nitty gritty details of third trimester pregancy!! Baby is still moving strong and there is no doubt but that he is going to be another very active boy!!

Our First Sabbath Feast

Mr. MK and I have been wanting to learn to practice hospitality more frequently. Last weekend we had sick boys, so this week we really wanted to have someone over. We invited my brother, B. and his wife, S. over on Saturday night. I had planned on having the house sparkling clean, and a fancy table set. Turned out that Mr. MK had W-F off, and started our addition. (baby's room) So that meant LOTS of mud and dust, especially here in the back porch/dining room. Thankfully I had planned a simple menu: baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and salad. Dessert was warm apple crisp (with vanilla ice cream) from apples I'd frozen last fall. It was a very simple meal to prepare---I started cooking, cleaning up, and setting the table about 4 pm. I enjoyed using our octagon shaped ironstone plates, and these "aqua" napkins I found at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago.

It was very relaxed, and we enjoyed fellowship with B and S very much.

Happy St. Valentine's Day

My projects for today---finishing

this table runner and making sugar cookies with family and friends. Oh, and reading the survey results!

It's HERE!!!

Dear Friends, TheRebelution.com just launched the results of their massive Modesty Survey! Over 1,600 Christian guys answered questions on everything from glitter lotion and lip gloss to swimsuits and skirt slits! For you girls, it's everything you've ever wanted to ask guys about modesty, but were afraid to ask! For you guys, it's really interesting to see what other Christian guys think! Most importantly, the survey is presented as a resource to help Christian girls (and guys), not a list of legalistic rules, and it is accompanied by the Modesty Survey Petition (which tons of guys have signed) which encourage young women to focus on the heart, not the hemline, to honor their parents, etc. TheRebelution.com presents the results of the survey as a big St. Valentine's Day gift from 1,600 Christian guys to all Christian girls—and I can't think of a better one! Go check it out: www.therebelution.com/modestysurvey

What's my worldview and where'd it come from?

What is FEMINISM? Am I aware of all the ways that IT has become intrinsic in our culture---and the culture of the church? Am I aware of the subtle ways it is a part of my own worldview? Do I think of the ways IT affects my attitudes and relationships with my husband and children?

Lately several componets of FEMINISM have come to my attention that I am ashamed to admit have been just considered "normal" to me. I just thought that way---and I'm not sure why. This has opened the door to thinking "What is my WORLDVIEW?" and then "Where did it come from?"

I find it very shocking to realize how much of the "world" I carry around in my head and heart. How did this happen? Was I just not listening? Was I just doing what everyone else does (including "church" friends)? And what other philospohies of worldly life do I have in place that I have never questioned or made to line up with the Bible? What tenets of modernism and post-modernism, etc. am I embracing, though unaware?

So how does one do inventory of the componets of this filing cabinet in the head and heart, to re-evaluate every attitude and thought, of every leaning or conviction? For I want not be a crowd follower, one who jumps on the bandwagon with every book or idea that challenges me---but to follow Christ alone, to be found in Him alone, and have every thought captive in HIM!

Pray for me---that I would not become too self-consumed in my searchings, but yet follow the Spirit where he leads, even into those hidden areas of my heart that I have not yielded to my Lord Jesus.

Today's Doings

Today so far I have:
*T-Tapped for 20 minutes
*Read the computer way too much (note to self, "SET A TIMER")
*Made yummmy 8-grain sourdough english muffins

I just finished eating a muffin with 1/2 apple for lunch. I never realized how easy it was to make english muffins, and since my hubby could live off of them, I need to make them more often. Mr. MK says that they are the best possible *carrier* for butter and jelly when toasted---all those little air holes to puddle up!

I have been feeling very lethargic and tired lately. But I yesterday I remembered Flylady's famous line "You can do anything for 15 minutes". So I did, and actually cleaned the kitchen. Next 15 minute segment ran a little long as I swept the all floors, then mopped the kitchen and mud room while listening to John Piper http://www.desiringgod.org/ It's always a great feeling to actually get something done in a day--especially when it's more than I'd hoped when I woke up.

B's turning 5 tommorrow. I am excited and want to make his day special. Let's see how it goes!
...may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:4
