They anxiously counted the days until Sunday,

and then even convinced Daddy to wear a tie!

Today I had fun making a full length apron

from a thrifted vintage strawberry tablecloth.

It's a gift for a special friend. Her kitchen is aqua and red,

and she also collects strawberry vintage.

Perfect.

I couldn't resist---why not test the ETSY waters? It's very simple to set up and now I am really a modern day homemaker---selling simple homemade items from my computer desk!!

Easy Minestrone

Last night, I was in a rush to make dinner, and the usual hamburger soup that I make was looking forlorn and missing something. So I bravely set out to change some things, and here's what I came up with----it was approved by Mr. MK (providing that next time there's hot bread of some kind to go with it) !

Easy Minestrone

Brown 1 lb. hamburger meat,

with garlic and onion powders,

salt and pepper.

Add 3-4 cups water,

3 beef low-sodium boullion cubes

3-4 cups mixed frozen vegtables

1 can of diced Italian style tomatoes

1 can of black or kidney beans.

When heated through, add 1 cup uncooked egg noodles

corn starch (mixed with cold water to form paste) to thicken as desired

Cook for 15 minutes, serve topped with grated parmesean cheese!

ReFashioned Pillows

For these pillows I used a crochet sweater

over a dark brown linen skirt from thrift that isn't fitting,

and I decided that the cut wouldn't be right for me even if

I was 10lbs. lighter!

The lighter pillow is the same crochet sweater over an old favorite embroidered button up linen shirt. I love having buttons on the back of the pillows---then I can remove the covers and wash them, without the pain of trying to put a zipper in. (yes, I am deathly afraid of zippers----they are on my "to-conquer-someday" list---but it wasn't today!)

I also reused pillow forms instead of buying new.
