Farmhouse Garden Style

                                                                                     There are times (ok, most of the times)

                                           that I long for a bit more elegance in my life.

                                               Then something like this happens:

 I've planted pumpkins in my flower bed (the sun has disappeared from our back garden plot---thanks to a neighbors elm tree) and they are growing crazy,  so they've been forced trained to climb. They rampantly climb galvanized pipes,  found here at the house when we moved in,  which are tied to the porch posts with leftover bits of wire.

(Good thing that "Industrial" is chic,  no?)

The crazy thing is how much I love it!!  The pumpkin leaves are so huge,  and they look amazing backlit from inside my kitchen window.    Then these feathery, hot pink cosmos dance above the foliage,  and it's a combination that I'm going to repeat.

We are oh-so-green.  

Nursery

The nursery is ready:

tiny sleepers and socks,

bears and blankets.

 Empty frames

waiting for his face,

his hands,  his feet.

While the blog record shows that I am extremely preoccupied
withLittle Boy,  our Sweet 7, 

there has also been alot of other things going on. 

Mr. Wonderful has had very little real
(i.e. paying) work this month,

so we've been doing all kinds of things around the house, 

project that don't cost much,  just taking lots of time. 

Here Ian is helping with the window seat in the living room....

he has also been in on drywall work,  painting walls, 
and moving furniture.

Ian is growing up so fast,  and all the sudden
I realize he's not my baby anymore.

Now,  about the Little Boy!

I am 32 weeks today,  and we are facing some decisions.

Delivery will be via c-section and the

When,  Where and Who

still need to be determined.

Most of the Dr.s think we should go at 36 weeks....

that's only 28 days, baby!!

White on White

Mr. Wonderful is building me some beautiful cabinets.

Of course, they are not done yet,

like the rest of our house.

We are enjoying each little bit

that gets finished.

He is so good to me!!

Details

When our "old" vintage oven

(bought at a yard sale 3 years ago for $25!)

started taking 45 minutes to heat up,

we looked online for replacement parts.

To fix the burners and the oven was going to be over $200.

After a quick scan of the classifieds,

we headed to the city to buy this uptown Frigidaire, circa 1952.

For $150, I now have double ovens, a clock that works,

and even a light that clicks on to say "Broil" or "Bake".

(You know my record with the Broil function!)

Everything works, except the timer.

Merry Christmas to me!

Well, it was new in 1952!

Today I am off to the paint store to buy more white stain.

House Update

Last summer you saw lots going on around here.....

this year things are still being done,

just at a much slower pace.

We praise the Lord that Mr. Wonderful has had lots of work

(many in his field are without it)

and so the house has not been priority.

But we did start this spring on a fence..... A not frilly picket fence for our bungalow....

we'll be painting the house trim

this sandy color soon, hopefully.

Mothering Boys

I don't pretend to even begin to understand

how to raise fearless, courageous men.

But here's a start. They showed no fear of heights---

Ok, that's about all my poor heart can take---

Don't Laugh, Please?

No, I have not lost my mind! No, I am not bi-polar

( the "me" that most of you know is most decidedly NOT a neat-freak!)
No, I am not being commited this afternoon for temporary insanity....

Then why on earth am I vaccuuming the front grass?

Don't I have anything better to do?

I am vaccuuming the lawn because my Mister asked me~~~

aren't I just the picture of a helpful wife?

But that leads to more questions~~~

Does Mister have a weird cleanliness quirk? (yes)

Does Mister have a childhood phobia about fiberglass insulation? (yes)

I am vaccuuming tiny blackish-brown bits of blown-in fiberglass out of the grass,

otherwise Mister would never again be able to tussle about on it with the boys,

for fears of the phantom itches that always accompany insulation.

We are ripping the roof and walls off the front of the house, more pictures to come.

Hopefully they won't be as frighteningly embarrassing as these.
